How many bars and kits do I need to fit my vehicle?

The amount of bars and kits needed depends on the vehicle, and the type of load that is to be carried. Generally, smaller vehicles will only have the capacity to fit two or three bars, whereas larger panel vans have the capacity for numerous bars. The use of multiple bars will not increase the load capacity of the vehicle, but will offer greater load distribution.

Gutterless vehicles do not have a conventional rain gutter, but usually have a plastic or rubber strip or rain channel running along each side of the roof. More common on newer vehicles, the roof bars will attach to the vehicle using a clamp around the door, or using “fixed point” fixing holes either on the roof panel or inside the door aperture.

What is the advantage of having hooped kits as opposed to guttered?

Hooped kits are generally more robust and better suited to frequent heavy use. They also have the ability to have dual bars fitted to each foot offering maximum durability and longevity of the product under extreme use.
